The Bowie Center for the Performing Arts is just one of the cultural centers in town. There is also a theatrical playhouse and three museums. The ice arena and the golf course offer activities that can be enjoyed year round. There are72 ball fields and the Bowie Baysox a Class AA Eastern League plays at Prince George's Stadium. This family oriented town also has a state of the art senior citizen and a gymnasium that hosts community programs. The motto of Bowie is "Growth, unity, and progress", which shows in this one agricultural railroad town that has seen so much growth in recent years. Bowie is home to 50,000 residents, yet manages to hold on to it's small town feel by providing a safe community with a low crime rate and activities that work to bring the community closer together. This has made Bowie, Maryland a very desirable place to visit and live since this type of community is slowly disappearing across the country. Bowie has done a good job of incorporating the best of both worlds seamlessly blending progress and small town appeal, making this a great community to raise a family in.
